Abstract

369,476. Diaphragms. HOUGHTON, V. T., 217, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. June 4, 1931, No. 16165. Convention date, July 29, 1930. [Class 40 (iv).] An acoustic diaphragm comprises a conical part 1, Fig. 1, and a rim 2 in which the circumference of the cone 1 and/or the inner circumference of the rim 2 is rendered expansible and contractible, preferably by a series of complex corrugations 3, 4, 5, &c. The diaphragm is preferably constructed from a plane blank scored on one side as at 7, 8, 9, Fig. 5, and on the other side as at 6, 10, 11, Fig. 6, the scorings facilitating the production of the corrugations. The corrugations may assume the more complex form in Fig. 7. The rim 2 may have slits at 12 to allow it to lay flat.
