ALLGEMEINE ROHRLEITUNG AKT.-GES., 374, Kolner Strasse, Dusseldorf, SEIFFERT & CO., AKT.-GES., F., 13, Oberwasserstrasse, Berlin, and SCHMIDT, A., 80, Konigsallee, Dusseldorf, both in Germany. March 20,1930, No. 8924. [Class 83 (iv).] Mandrels.-In bending thick-walled pipes by forming corrugations on the inner side of the bend, the pipe is drawn cold over a rotatable former having lateral recesses, a mandrel being held within the pipe so that its end remains always at the position of the bend. A pipe 18 to be bent round a former 3 is secured to a slide 12 movable in a guide 9 pivotally mounted at 10, and to an extension 6 of the former 3 by a clamp 7. The tube is engaged between semi-circular recesses in the slide and former under pressure of a screw 11. A mandrel 16 whose upper end is secured in a bracket 15 has a rounded end 17 situated at the point where the pipe engages the former 3. Rotation of the former 3 and table 1 by a worm 2 effects the bending of the pipe, the inner portion expanding into recesses 5 provided in the groove 4 in the former.
