Vacuum tubes; low-pressure metallic-vapour apparatus. - In a lamp according to the parent Specification having a hollow, conducting, refractory member guiding the discharge, the member consists of several juxtaposed parts insulated from each other. Insulating rings may be inserted between the parts, or, as shown, the parts 16 have flared ends 38 extending to the glass envelope, and are separated by a gap from the adjoining part. The flared ends are secured by flexible rings 39. The neck portion of each vessel 10' enclosing an electrode 8 is formed with slits, and is mounted on a quartz member 35 secured by a nut to a cupshaped terminal 32.
