Abstract
338,300. Wired Radio, Inc., and Duncan, R. D. oct. 7,1929. Wired-wireless systems.-A system of high-frequency broadcasting over a power net. work comprising distributing substations and consumers' branch lines is characterized by the provision of separate carrier-current lines between the broadcasting station and said substations, means being provided for preventing feedback of high-frequency energy from the broadcasting station to the central power station. A part of the complete system (Fig. 1, not shown) is shown in Fig. 2, in which high-frequency signals from the broadcasting station 33 are conveyed along specially provided lines to a substation 3 which is fed by transformer 13 with three-phase power from the lines 11, and feeds bus-bars 30 - - 32. The high-frequncy signals, after optional amplification by a thermionic amplifier 49, are fed to two of the power bus-bars enabling programs to be tapped off from any pair. Condensers 52, 53 isolate the carrier-wave apparatus from the power voltages and serve to tune the line. Highfrequency chokes 54 in the lines 11 prevent feed back and self-oscillation of the amplifier 49.
