Abstract
334,827. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Young, C. J.). March 27, 1929, [Convention date]. Copying-telegraphs. - A picture recording apparatus includes a rotatable drum 10, Fig. 2., provided with a helical ridge 12, a member 20, Figs. 1, 3, arranged to be moved with a force dependent upon the light value of an elementary portion of the picture transmitted, and means for simultaneously rotating the drum and moving picture receiving sheet 19 between the member 20 and the drum 10 with a predetermined speed relationship. The drum is driven by a motor through worm gear 25, 26 and shaft 11. The sprocket wheel 14, which feeds the paper through the apparatus, is loosely held on shaft 11 so as to be capable of relative movement thereto, and is driven from the shaft 11 through worm gearing 27 - - 30, 16, 15. Thus by suitable choice of gearing, the paper may be fed at a slow speed while the drum rotates rapidly. Each rotation of the drum traces one line on the picture, and the spacing of scanning lines depends on the speed of the sheet 19. The picture receiving paper 18 which is rewound on roll 31 by pulleys 32, 33 and a loose belt 34. The bar 20 is actuated by two motors, Fig. 3, each including a permanent magnet 21, an actuating coil 22 and an armature 23.
