Abstract

317,130. Herold, V. May 12, 1928. Drawings to Specification. Right to Patent relinquished. Electrodes.-A storage battery having an alkaline electrolyte is provided with a positive electrode consisting of alternate layers of nickel and oxide or hydrate and nickel flakes, and a negative electrode of cadmium hydrate or crushed cadmium with which a small quantity of iron or iron oxide may be mixed. The electrolyte may consist of a solution of caustic potash. The active material for the positive electrode may be contained in perforated nickel tubes supported in a nickel steel frame. Similar but smaller tubes may be used for the negative electrode, or the latter may comprise a nickel steel frame formed with rectangular cells for the reception of perforated flat nickel steel pockets containing the active material.
