Abstract

306,257. Weir, Ltd., G. & J., and Sim, J. Jan. 21, 1928. Liquids and gases, separating.-Feed-water for boilers is de-aerated by introducing it in the form of spray into a chamber maintained under reduced pressure, whence it falls into a well wherein it is caused to boil by means of a steam heater. Water is admitted by a float-controlled valve through nozzles f to a chamber a and falls into a well g surrounded by a communicating annular well in which is a heater p. The water is caused to boil by the heater and the vapour together with the air removed from the water is drawn off through a pipe v by an ejector pump b. The well j communicates by a pipe 3 with the float chamber m whence water is supplied to the boiler by a booster pump c.
