Tread projections and surfaces. - A tyre tread is formed with a series of cavities 4 adapted to form closed cups when in engagement with the road, the trailing end of each cavity being provided with a vent 5 so as to prevent compression of the air in the cup, but to produce suction as the cup leaves the road.
