Abstract

Forcing gas into liquids; agitating apparatus; top-pressure apparatus; valves, disposition of.-Apparatus for aerating liquids comprises a vessel having in its lower part a gas diffuser 24, 22 and an aerated liquid delivery valve 32 and in its upper part a liquid inlet 6 and a handoperated pressure-relieving valve 9, means being also provided for the ready attachment of the vessel tc the liquid and gas supplies. The gas supply is connected by a union 20 with a threeway cock 18 adapted to pass the gas to the diffuser, or to the space above the liquid bv way of pipe 28. The hand-operated pressure relief valve comprises a cone 13 co-operating with a base-piece 14 and is reciprocated by the handpiece 11 so that the gas pressure can be intermittently relieved during aeration. A union 34 is carried by the delivery valve for connection with syphon bottles. In a modification, the hand-operated relief valve is provided with an extension carrying perforated or other agitators. Syrups may be introduced into the vessel by detaching the neck-piece 5.
