Percussive hand tools.- A hammer cylinder containing a free piston 7 is constructed in one with a power cylinder 5, wherein a double-acting piston 4 is reciprocated by a crank 1 so as to transmit suction and compression to opposite ends of the hammer cylinder at each stroke of the piston 4, whilst air losses are made up by inlet valves 12 adjusted by hand, A byepass 13 is controlled by a hand-operated valve 15 for adjusting or stopping the stroke of the piston 7. A ring 24 attached to the valve rod serves in place of a stuffing-box when the valve is closed. A buffer spring 25 with a collar 26 is mounted at the inner end of the hammer cylinder.
