Abstract

266,550. White, S. D., and Scourfield, W.B. March 23, 1926. Heating by electricity. - A liquid heater comprises a storage chamber 11 provided with a continuously operating heater 10 and a heater 13 situated in a small auxiliary chamber 14 communicating with the main chamber and the outlet 19, the auxiliary heater being energized only when liquid is withdrawn. The switch controlling the auxiliary heater may be interconnected with the inlet or outlet cock or may be separately controlled. The chamber 11 may be pressure fed or fitted with a float operated feed valve. The chamber 4 communicates with the chamber 11 by a passage 15 and is fitted with a baffle 17 so that it cannot be emptied. An emergency outlet 16 limits the level of the water on the storage chamber 11.
