Abstract

265,388. Chatwood Safe Co., Ltd., and Bruckshaw, H. S. Feb. 16, 1926. Hinges.-The doors of safes and strong rooms are supported by crane hinges comprising top and bottom pivot pins between the door and the crane e, each pin having a self-aligning journal ball bearing f and one of them having also a ball thrust bearing g with a spherical seating h that has a radius about the centre of movement of the journal bearing. As shown, the pivot pin a of the upper lug b has the bearings f, g, the centre of movement of the bearing f being at i. The sleeve j has flats corresponding with flats in the interior of the lug b, and lateral adjustment is provided by the studs k and vertical adjustment of the door is effected by a screwed plug l. The ball thrust bearing is omitted from the lower hinge, but the bottom of the pivot pin is rounded and bears upon a screwed adjustable plug. The upper and lower pivot pins are prevented from rotating by cross pins, such as a<3>. The ball thrust bearing may be provided on either the top or bottom hinge.
