Abstract

A method for improving tobacco stem quality through combining steam explosion and enzyme treatment technology is provided. The method includes the following steps: a) steam exploding tobacco stem with a steam explosion machine, b) adding lignin enzyme and cellulose enzyme into the exploded tobacco stem, c) processing the tobacco stem into which the enzyme is added under condition of constant temperature and humidity, the temperature being 30-35℃ and the relative humidity being 90%, d) processing the tobacco stem treated by enzyme with low temperature dehydration drying treatment to control the moisture rate at about 20-30%, e) shredding the dewatered tobacco stem for cigarette production. The method improves the quality of tobacco stem by reducing lignin and cellulose, increases adding proportion of tobacco stem in the cigarette and reduces production cost of cigarette.

Description

Method for Improving Tobacco Stem Quality Through Combining Steam Explosion and Enzyme Treatment Technology
Field of the Tnvention
The present invention relates to a method for improving tobacco stem quality through combining steam explosion and enzyme treatment technology, which belongs to the field of tobacco processing.
Background to the Tnvention
Tobacco stern is an important component of tobacco leaves, which typically accounts for about 1⁄4 of the mass of a whole tobacco leaf. In the tobacco stem, the content of cellular wall substances. such as cellulose, hernicellulose, lignin. and pectin, is about 438% of the mass of dry matter. A relatively high content of cellulose, hernicellulose. lignin, and pectin makes the tobacco stem a strong source of irritant, It has a strong impure odor, can cause choking when inhaled and harsh to taste, and has a small quantity of aroma, which limits its percentage of use in a cigarette fonnulation.
Statement of Invention
The object of the present invention is to provide a method for improving tobacco stem quality through combining steam explosion mid enzyme treatment technology so as to improve the quality of tobacco stein.
The object of the present invention is attained by: a method for improving tobacco stern quality through combining steam explosion and enzyme treatment technology, which can combine steam explosion and enzyme treatment technology for processing tobacco stem, which improves the quality of tobacco stem, said method comprising the following steps of: a) Using a steam explosion machine to perform steam explosion on the wetted tobacco stem; b) Adding lignin enzyme and cellulose enzyme into the exploded tobacco stem; c) Processing the tobacco stern after enzyme addition under conditions of constant temperature and constant humidity, and maintaining the processing temperature between 30 35°C and the relative humidity at 90%; d) Subjecting the enzyme-treated tobacco stem to dehydrating treatment at low temperature such that its water content is controlled at around 20 -30%; e) Lastly, shredding the dewatered tobacco stem, for use in cigarette production.
The above steam explosion method is: using a saturated steam as the working medium, and implementing thorough exp]osion on the tobacco stem by adjusting the pressure of the saturated steam and the duration of the pressure action.
The above steam explosion pressure is 0.8 1.0 MPa, and the steam pressure is kept constant for 20 -40 seconds.
In the above Step c, the processing temperature is 35°C and the relative humidity is 90%; in Step d, the dehydrating treatment is cathed out through suspended drying such that its water content is controlled at around 30%, The fundamental guarantee for the implementation of said method is to first perform steam explosion on the tobacco stem, and then treat the exploded tobacco stern with enzymes.
During the course of enzyme treatment, conditions of constant temperature and constant humidity could improve the treatment result.
The present invention has the following advantageous effects: In the case of steam explosion, high pressure steam permeates among large molecules of cellulose and lignin in structural tissues of the tobacco stem, and due to the rapid loss of pressure external to the tobacco stern, the highly pressurised steam inside the tissues is instantaneously released such that the tobacco stern is broken. As a result, the ligno-celiulose structure is separated and the tobacco stem structure becomes loose after the explosion, which is favorable for the permeation of lignin enzyme and cellulose enzyme in the subsequent enzyme treatment, and strengthen.s the effect of enzyme treatment. At the same time, the high pressure and high temperature environment of steam explosion can further effectively achieve the conversion of substances, such as cellulose. hemicellulose. and pectin, in the tobacco stem, and increases the content of reducthg sugar in the exploded tobacco stem.
The treatment of tobacco stem after the steam explosion with lignin enzyme and cellulose enzyme can attain the goal of further degrading lignin and cellulose in the tobacco stem, reducing the content of lignin and cellulose in the tobacco stem, and reducing the wooden odor and choking and coughing caused by lignin and cellulose in the tobacco stem.
The combination of steam explosion and enzyme treatment can effectively improve the quality of tobacco stern, increase the amount of tobacco stein that can be added in the cigarette production, and is important for lowering the cost of cigarette production, Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiment(s)
Preparation example:
Take 5 kg of tobacco stem that has gone through regular treatment processes, including refining and alcoholisation, use clean water to rapidly wash off dust on the surface thereof, and air dry to remove the surface water; use a steam explosion machine to perfoim explosion treatment on the tobacco stem with the surface water removed, the explosion working medium being saturated steam, the explosion pressure is 0.8 MPa, and the pressure is kept constant for 20 seconds. After the steam explosion of the tobacco stem, it is dewatered and dried through suspended forced air drying such that its water content is controlled at around 30%. Activate lignin enzyme and cellulose enzyme and add them evenly, then store the stem for treatment. In the storage device, the temperature is set at 35°C and the relative humidity is set at 90%, It is kept away from light for 12 24 hours. After the enzyme treatment, the tobacco stem is heat dried, and then shredded. Carry out cigarette pmcessing according to a cigarette fomtulation, and the amount of added stem shreds can be increased by more than 5%. The organoleptic evaluation of the smoking shows that when the amount of steam explosion and enzyme treatment treated stem shreds added is increased by 5%, the sensory quality of the cigarette is consistent ith that of the original cigarette formulation.
The steam pressure as described herein is gauge pressure.
