Abstract

A mobile device may not be able to measure a channel quality indicator (CQI) correctly during the active time period of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle, as it does not know in advance when the active time shall end. If it is determined that an instance of periodic CQI reporting is about to occur at the start of an active time of a DRX period, the mobile device will perform at least one of: utilizing predetermined CQI measurements obtained during the preceding DRX cycle for the instance of CQI reporting, and/or cancelling the present in­stance of CQI reporting. The start of the active time period may be defined as the first four subframes of a current on-duration time. The predetermined CQI measurements may be reported with an indication of validity.
