PROPERTY OFFICE Application No. GB 1009016.5 RTM Date:23 September 2010 The following terms are registered trademarks and should be read as such wherever they occur in this document: Seatcase Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of the Patent Office www.ipo.gov.uk Titlel The SeatCase.
Description
This invention relates to an elegant piece of pull along luggage fitted as a suitcase, which conforms to airline specifications as a flight hand luggage, and, to a child's vehicle booster cushion, which conforms to international safety standards.
Carrying a booster cushion when travelling is not very easy to manage: When travelling in a vehicle with a child aged between 4-12 years old, up to 150cm tall and weighing over 22kg, it is an European Union safety requirement that the child is seated on a booster cushion, restrained by the vehicles built-in adult seat belts.
* When travelling by air, a booster cushion can be required for the child for the journey to the airport if it is done by car, coach or taxi. In the same way, a booster cushion can be required at the destination.
* Some airlines companies restrict the carry-on of one hand luggage per person. Therefore, most of the time, preference for children is to take an usable piece of hand luggage. When no luggage restrictions apply, and choice has been made to bring their own booster cushion, it must be carried by the adults for each appropriate child, in addition to their own hand luggage.
* When hiring a car, a booster cushion is an additional expense, each time. Many taxi firms will not transport a child without appropriate safety systems, forcing the purchase of a booster seat. Furthermore in some areas of the world no suitable booster cushions are available.
This often results in the adult carrying a booster cushion for each appropriate child in addition to any other luggages, in any travelling situation or, in bringing extra expenses with the purchase or rent of booster cushion.
The SeatCase can solve all these constraints: * By allowing the children travelling by vehicle, to arrive safely seated on their SeatCase at the airport.
* Once at the airport for departure, children can pull their SeatCase like any normal wheel hand luggage until they get into the plane.
* Children can keep and enjoy any required items with them for their time at the airport and during the journey by having the SeatCase all the time with them.
* Upon arrival, they can immediately use the SeatCase in the vehicle for the onward and any subsequent journey.
The various outside finishes, make a sleek pull along case, that is a desirable item for any member of an image conscious travelling family.
Features It's uniqueness lies in the following areas: * II is one single item, not requiring additions.
* II can be pulled, by adult or child.
* It is designed for travel.
* It is for use as hand luggage by the adult or child.
* It is designed for airline and international travel.
* It meets all current and planned vehicle (car, bus, coach, taxi, etc.) child booster cushion safety legislation.
* It meets all current and planned flight pull along hand luggage regulation, including size and weight limits.
* It conforms to international and EU standards like UN ECE 44.03 and 44.04.
* It has retractable arm rests which restrain the adult seat belts, whether left or right hand fixing.
* The booster seat cushion seat belt restraints, retract, leaving a smooth surface view.
