Abstract

The apparatus comprises a fully functional and mobile drum tuition studio contained within a truck. The drum truck preferably includes: a drum kit with cymbals and a music stand; a television with integrated DVD player; speakers; an amplifier; a metronome; an MP3 player or CD player; and seating for both pupil and teacher encased within a bespoke 'back box' for a 3.5 tonne truck base. This is a fully mobile and self sufficient studio which can be used to host drum lessons anywhere. The material taught within the truck is hosted by a teacher, in the format of books and accompanying DVD presentations.

DESCRIPTION

This is a request to patent the "Drum Truck". The Drum Truck is a fully functional mobile drum studio which will be used to travel to various locations for the purpose of providing drum lessons.

The Drum Truck is a completely self-contained and soundproofed vehicle which will have it's own power supply, along with drum-kit, speakers, amplifiers, television & DYD-player and all equipment necessary to provide the same quality of lessons at any location. See Fig 2/2 The particular make and model of truck is not of importance however we're looking at a truck that can be driven under a standard UK licence, so is not classed as a HGV. This means it must be no heavier than 3.Stonnes.

Internal dimensions would be around 7-8ft high. 6-7ft wide and 11-l3ft long. We can't be EXACTLY sure as make and model of truck may vary, but these internal dimensions are working from an idea of space needed.

Work needed to be carried out on a "back box" of the trucks would be to build inwards of the existing exterior walls and ceiling, with 6-9inch thick stud walls and ceiling (including insulation) and possibly an interior door.

(Different trucks on the market would need to be looked at to find best one to customise.) This is what would need to be done to a standard back box, however we could also get a bespoke box built to specifications designed for insulation purposes, much like refrigeration trucks.

More batteries would need to be added so that the truck was self sufficient in terms of power supply, much like they do in "R.V's". Then power points would need to be placed in the "studio" to run the equipment. Lights/ switches would then also be added.

Once the extra soundproofing walls (and maybe door) were added, the interior would then be treated with acoustic foam to give optimum sound efficiency. The drum kit used could be acoustic or electric, but we are mainly aiming to keep it acoustic where possible.

Everything would then be secured to the floor and walls so that it doesn't move about in transit.

Although the drum lessons will be hosted by a dedicated teacher, the actual technical aspects of each topic will be explained and demonstrated by means of a specially prepared DVD presentation, containing original material created and used by Chris Senior Drum Tuition.

The exterior of the vehicle will remain un-modified but will feature the company name and logo.

2. The "Drum Truck" will consist of standard cab and chassis fitted with a personalised back box in accordance with our specifications no bigger than 3.5tonnes.
3. Lessons will be hosted by a dedicated teacher and the material taught is exclusive to Chris Senior Drum Tuition and will be in the format of books with accompanying DVD presentations.
