Abstract
Access to an online resource, such as a website, prompts a user to enter an answer provided in specific printed information, such as a book, which may be related to the online resource. This allows for books to be provided with dedicated websites which contain additional information, multimedia or an electronic searchable version of the book that can only be accessed by people in possession of the book. The user may have to enter appropriate words or numbers referred to in the printed information such as at a specified location. Also the user may have to select a graphic with reference to the printed information and the prompts may be selected at random.
Description
A link between access to a website and access to a book
Description
Often it is useful for books to have dedicated websites associated with them, for example to provide additional information, multi-media or an electronic searchable version of the book. These websites should only be accessible by people in possession of the respective book.
The present invention proposes a way to make sure that a website can only be accessed by users in possession of a specific book. Specific prompts are made to the user that can only be answered with the help of the book. For example one such prompt may be to enter the first word on a specific page or to select an appropriate graphic with reference to the book. The correct answer will allow access to the website.
This ensures that a user's access to the website is directly liked with their access to the book. Preferably, different prompts will be used at random.
