Abstract

The present invention relates to apparatus for generating electrical power from a flow of fluid and an associated method. In an embodiment, the apparatus comprises a main body to which there are coupled blades to impart rotation of the main body in response to the flow of fluid such that angular momentum of the main body is conserved upon a change of direction of fluid flow. Accordingly, electricity can be generated while the main body is rotating, and while the direction of fluid changes, such as during a slack water period in a tidal flow.
