Abstract
A greetings card, promotional item or novelty postcard which comprises two or more panels 1, 2 surrounding an inflatable chamber 3 such that an area on one or more panel 1, 2 can expand when air is blown into the chamber 3 creating a three dimensional form. The panels 1, 2 may be formed from one or more pieces of material. The panels 1, 2 may have a plurality of cuts 4 enabling them to expand when the chamber 3 is inflated. The inflating chamber 3 may be a latex balloon.
Description
1 2447850 Inflatable Greetings Card The present application relates to
a display article.
More particularly, the present application relates to an inflatabje greetings card, promotional item or novelty postcard. For the avoidance of confusion, henceforth, the term Greetings Card' is used to include greetings card, promotional item and/or novelty postcard.
Greetings cards are purchased worldwide for numerous occasions, arriving at the recipient in a two dimensional form which is opened, folded, twisted or pulled into a three dimensional form to allow the greetings card to be displayed.
This invention relates to a greetings card, part of which can be inflated by the recipient allowing air into an inflatable chamber held within the structure of the card which expands the structure to create a three dimensional form.
The most important concept here is the design of the greetings card from two or more panels surrounding an inflatable chamber and one or more of these panels are cut in such a way which allows the inflatable chamber to expand when it is inflated. This converts an initially two dimensional form into a three dimensional structure.
Despite the number and vaiiety of greetings cards available on the market today there is always a need for new innovative products particularly at the more expensive end of the market.
Greetings cards are often received as one of many, quickly opened, briefly read and then displayed for a significantly longer period of time. The display/appearance of the card will seen by many people whilst the written greeting is read by few and possibly only one. This invention meets the needs of the consumer who would like their greetings card to be noticed and remembered by the recipient and others. Its unique form and the required interaction by the recipient will ensure that both of these consumer needs are met.
It is preferable that the greetings card expands to create a stable three dimensional structure.
It is preferable that the greetings card uses a standard latex balloon as the inflatable chamber.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the five accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows the invention from the side.
Figure 2 shows a possible net for the invention showing the cuts in two panels that would allow these to expand.
Figure 3 shows the invention from the back as the two or more panels are closed around the expandable chamber.
Figure 4 shows the inflated invention from the front Figure 5 shows the inflated invention from the side.
The invention is a greetings card consisting of two or more panels including a front panel I and back panel 2 bonded together and surrounding an inflatable chamber 3. An area on each panel immediately surrounding this expanding chamber is cut 4 to allow them to expand when air is allowed to enter the expanding chamber behind. On receipt of the greetings card the recipient is requested to allow air into the expanding chamber which is then sealed, where necessary 5, to maintain the expansion and hold the final three dimensional form. The initial two dimensional profile and final three dimensional form of the greetings card can vary.
