Abstract

The Mobile Phone Driving Button switches a mobile phone to a silent state while continuing to take incoming calls. SMS and MMS messages are accepted in the normal way, but with no audible alert. Voice calls are diverted to the service providers message service, where a default message informs the caller that the person they are trying to contact is driving and cannot take the call.

Description

The Mobile Phone Driving Button -Description
The Mobile Phone Driving Button is a new feature, which could be added by all manufacturers to all new mobile phone handset interfaces.
On entering their car, drivers will select the Driving Button Option, which would then put their mobile phone in silent mode, so the driver cannot hear any incoming alerts.
The mobile phone while in this mode would divert any voice caller to the service providers message service stating that the person they are calling is currently driving.
SMS and MMS messages would be received in the normal way, but with no audible alert.
Upon exiting their vehicle, the Driving Button Option is then cancelled, returning it to its normal state.
This will help solve the problem of people using their mobiles while driving. As we know, using a mobile while driving is dangerous and against the law now in the UK. However, the temptation to answer a mobile when it rings, or to read a text message received while driving is too hard for most people to resist.
