Abstract

A monitoring system and booth that ensures single users are safe when using an ATM machine. Should additional people be detected entering the booth, the unit will sound an alarm, send a remote alarm and after a preset time will shut down the ATM. The system also constantly monitors the ATM against tampering, and should additional items, or skimming devices, be placed on the ATM the system, an alarm will be sent and the ATM will be instructed to shut down.

Description

Cronus..ATM monitor booth This invention relates to a device for
monitoring users and the actual ATM.
When users are making withdrawals from an ATM the main fear is that they may be overlooked when entering the PiN, they may be forced into withdrawing cash by others. Also the ATM may be tampered with and additional readers "skimmers" may be attached to allow fraudulent recording of the card details.
The booth will remain locked when at rest; the user will unlock the booth via the valid bank card. Once entering the booth the system will establish whether there is a single person present or not. Should the system detect another person and alarm will sound instructing the second person to leave. Should they not leave the ATM will shut down and an alarm will sound locally and a remote alarm will be send to wherever chosen.
Once the system has detected a valid single user the door will lock allowing the user to make the transaction, the users will leave the booth after transaction, restoring the system to "stand by".
Should the user not leave the booth within a set time (to be defined by user) and alarm will sound and the ATM will shut down.
The system will constantly monitor the front of the ATM, should an addition item be placed on the ATM the system will immediately shut down the unit and send a remote alarm to wherever designated.
The door is locked via an electric strike; it also has a pneumatic closer to self close.
The system is fully integrated in the booth roof section (see drawing).
The lighting is integrated in the roof section of the booth (see drawing) The alarm outputs are contained with in the system, all outputs will be interfaced with the users system.
Power is draw from the users power supply (240 volt a.c)

Claims (4)

  1. Claims The Cronus monitoring system means that the users of the
    protected ATM can use the facility safely due to the system ensuring only one person can be present during the transaction.
  2. 2 The system according to claim 1 also constantly monitors the ATM to eliminate tampering, should any additional item be added the system will instruct the ATM to shut down
  3. 3 The fabrication of the booth will allow for safe usage, the door will remain locked throughout the transaction, allowing the user to ensure it is safe to exit.
  4. 4 The booth can be constructed as fully stand alone or in a version that attaches to existing buildings.
