Abstract
A double layer roller shade comprising a headrail 10, a non-moving fixing shaft 50, a rotation shaft (30 Figure 4), two end caps 20, a shade body 60 made from two different layers 61 62, preferably of translucent and transparent material allowing the effect of the shade to be adjusted. A rolling rod 70 is positioned at the intermediate bending position 63 of the shade body and may have two positioning members 80 and two positioning plugs 90. Preferably the fixing shaft is oblong in shape and has a longitudinal slot for attaching the second end of the shade body to. A pull cord and mechanism (32 Figure 1, 40 Figure 4) is used to move the layers relative to one another and the shade body from an extended to retracted position.
Description
<p>DOUBLE-LAYER ROLLER SHADE</p>
<p>BACKGROIJNT) OF THE INVENTION</p>
<p>1. Field of the In\Tention</p>

<p>2. I)escription of the Related Art A conventional roller shade comprises a roller, a shade body having a first end wound around the roller and a second end formed with a pocket, a slat mounted in the pocket of the shade body to increase the weight of the shade body, and a ring pull mounted on the pocket of the shade body to facilitate a user pulling the shade body outwardly from the roller. Thus, when the shade body is wound around the roller, the roller shade is folded to allow the sunlight entering the house, and when the shade body is unwound from the roller, the roller shade is extended to stop the sunlight so as to prevent the sunlight from entering the house. However, the shade body has a fixed shade effect, so that the light permeability of the shade body cannot be adjusted according to the user's requirement, thereby causing inconvenience to the user.</p>
<p>BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION</p>
<p>In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a roller shade, comprising a headrail, a fixing shaft securely mounted in the headrail, a rotation shaft rotatably mounted in the headrail, and a shade body having a first end secured to the fixing shaft, a second end wound around the rotation shaft to rotate therewith and an intermediate bending portion located between the first end and the second end and protruded outwardly from the headrail. The shade body has a surface formed with a plurality of first shade layers and a plurality of second shade layers.</p>
<p>The primary objective ol the present invention is to provide i double-layer roller shade whose light permeability is adjustable.</p>
<p>Another objective of the present invention is to provide a roller shade, wherein the shade body is separated by the intermediate bending portion into two spaced shade sheets, and the relative positions of the first shade layers and the second shade layers at the two spaced shade sheets of the shade body are changed by movement of the shade body, so that the light permeable extent of the shade body can be regulated by changing the relative positions of the first shade layers and the second shade layers at the two spaced shade sheets of the shade body so as to adjust the shade effect of the roller shade.</p>
<p>A further objective of the present invention is to provide a roller shade, wherein the first end of the shade body is extended through the elongated slot into the receiving space of the fixing shafi so as to adjust the length of the shade body.</p>
<p>A further objective of the present invention is to provide a roller shade, wherein the rolling rod is rotatably mounted in the intermediate bending portion of the shade body to produce a weight to the shade body so that the shade body is located at an upright state.</p>
<p>Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.</p>

<p>DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION</p>
<p>Referring to the drawings and initially to Figs. 1-5, a double-layer roller shade in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a headrail 10, a fixing shaft 50, a rotation shaft 30, two end caps 20, a shade body 60, a pull cord 32, a cord controller 40, a rolling rod 70, two positioning members 80, and two positioning plugs 90.</p>
<p>The headrail 10 has a substantially inverted L-shaped cross-sectional profile. The headrail 10 has a front side formed with a downward extending cover 12 and has two ends each formed with a mounting portion 11.</p>

The receiving space 51 of the fixing shaft 50 has a periphery formed with an elongated slot 52 axially extending through a whole length of the fixing shaft 50.</p>
<p>The rotation shaft 30 is rotatably mounted in the headrail 10 and covered by the cover 12 of the headrail 10. The rotation shaft 30 has two ends each formed with a pivot hole 31.</p>
<p>Each of the end caps 20 is mounted on the headrail 10 and connected to the fixing shaft 50 and the rotation shaft 30 to support the fixing shaft 50 and the rotation shaft 30. Each of the end caps 20 has a periphery formed with a mounting edge 21 secured to the respective mounting portion 11 of the headrail to attach each of the end caps 20 to the headrail 10. Each of the end caps 20 has a side formed with a fixing portion 23 mounted on a respective end of the fixing shaft 50 and a pivot portion 22 pivotally mounted in the respective pivot hole 31 of the rotation shaft 30. Thus, the fixing shaft 50 is securely mounted in the headrail 10 by the end caps 20, and the rotation shaft 30 is rotatably mounted in the headrail 10 by the end caps 20.</p>
<p>The shade body 60 has a first end secured to the fixing shaft 50, a second end wound around the rotation shaft 30 to rotate therewith and an intermediate bending portion 63 located between the first end and the second ( RI aiid protiuded outwardly ftoni the headrail 1 0. The shade body 60 is separated by the intermediate bending portion 63 into two spaced parallel shade sheets as shown in Fig. 4. The shade body 60 has a surface formed with a plurality of first shade layers 61 and a plurality of second shade layers 62. The first shade layers 61 and the second shade layers 62 of the shade body 60 are arranged in a successively staggered manner. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, each of the first shade layers 61 of the shade body 60 is a transparent layer, and each of the second shade layers 62 of the shade body 60 is a translucent layer.</p>
<p>The pull cord 32 has a first end wound around an end portion of the rotation shaft 30 to rotate the rotation shaft 30 and a second end protruded outwardly from the headrail 10. The second end of the pull cord 32 is provided with a grip portion 320 to facilitate a user holding and pulling the pull cord 32.</p>
<p>The cord controller 40 is mounted on a side of the headrail 10 to control movement of the pull cord 32 which is extended through an inside of the cord controller 40 as shown in Fig. 4. Preferably, the cord controller 40 is secured to the cover 12 of the headrail 10.</p>
<p>The rolling rod 70 is rotatably mounted in the intermediate bending portion 63 of the shade body 60 to produce a weight to the shade body 60 so that the shade body 60 is located at au upright state as shown in Fig. 4. The rolling rod 7() lain a hoflovi inde.</p>

<p>Each of the positioning members 80 is mounted on the rolling rod 70 and rested on the intermediate bending portion 63 of the shade body 60 to position the rolling rod 70. Each of the positioning members 80 has a first end provided with an insert 81 inserted into the slot 91 of the respective positioning plug 90 and a second end provided with two limit wings 83 rested on a respective end of the intermediate bending portion 63 of the shade body 60.</p>
<p>The insert 81 of each of the positioning members 80 has a periphery provided with an annular retaining flange 82 inserted into the retaining groove 92 of the respective positioning plug 90.</p>
<p>In operation, referring to Figs. 1-6, the pull cord 32 is allowed to move downward or upward by operation of the cord controller 40 to rotate the rotation shaft 30 to wind (fold or lift) the shade body 60 as shown in Fig. 1 or unwind (extend or lower) the shade body 60 as shown in Fig. 6 to change the shade effect. In such a manner, the shade body 60 is separated by the intermediate bending portion 63 into two spaced shade sheets as shown in Fig. 4, and the relative positions of the first shade layers 61 and the second shade layers 62 at the two spaced shade sheets of the shade body 60 are changed by movement of the shade body 60 during operation the pull cord 32, so that the I b1it penn cihl c extent ci the shede body 60 ctn be re,i.i I led by Thin the ILL1iVc pOitiOii 01 tiiC 1r5t Sh1dC lnycr 61. nl the second 1idL IHycis 62 the two spaced shade sheets of the shade body 60 SO as to adj List the shade effect of the roller shade. At this time, the rolling rod 70 produces a weight to the shade body 60 SO that the shade body 60 is located at an upright state, and the rolling rod 70 is located at the lowermost position of the shade body 60 as shown inFig.4.</p>
<p>Accordingly, the shade body 60 is separated by the intermediate bending portion 63 into two spaced shade sheets, and the re]ative positions of the first shade layers 61 and the second shade layers 62 at the two spaced shade sheets of the shade body 60 are changed by movement of the shade body 60, so that the light permeable extent of the shade body 60 can be regulated by changing the relative positions of the first shade layers 61 and the second shade layers 62 at the two spaced shade sheets of the shade body 60 so as to adjust the shade effect of the roller shade. In addition, the first end of the shade body 60 is extended through the elongated slot 52 into the receiving space 51 of the fixing shaft 50 so as to adjust the length of the shade body 60. Further, the rolling rod is rotatably mounted in the intermediate bending portion 63 of the shade body 60 to produce a weight to the shade body 60 so that the shade body 60 is IoCatC(l at an upright state.</p>

Claims (1)
- <p>CLAIM OR CLAIMS</p><p>1. A roller shade, comprising: a headrail; Fixing shnFt reCUCCIY nCUntCd in th' 1clil; niOtiOirl!1 it/lttJ n) a shade body having a first end secured to tile fixing shaft, a second end wound around the rotation shaft to rotate therewith and an intermediate bending portion located between the first end and the second end and protruded outwardly from the headrail, wherein the shade body has a surface formed with a plurality of first shade layers and a plurality of second shade layers.</p><p>2. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein the headrail has a front side formed with a downward extending cover.</p><p>3. The roller shade in accordance with claim 2, wherein the fixing shaft is covered by the cover of the headrail.</p><p>4. The roller shade in accordance with claim 2, wherein the rotation shaft is covered by the cover of the headrail.</p><p>5. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein the fixing shaft has an inside formed with a receiving space which has a periphery formed with an elongated slot, and the first end of the shade body is extended through the elongated slot into the receiving space of the fixing shaft so as to adjust a length of the shade body.</p><p>6. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, further comprising two end caps each mounted on the headrail and connected to the fixing shaft and the rotation sha[t to support the fixing shafl and the rotation shaft.</p><p>7. lli n1kr s1m(ic ill a(coI'dal1ce with claim G, wherein the headrail lr tco cnd c IOHIL( V 1H JI!11fl poitwi, and c*ci of the end caps has a periphery formed with a mounting edge secured to the respective mounting portion of the headrail to attach each of the end caps to the headrail.</p><p>8. The roller shade in accordance with claim 6, wherein the rotation shaft has two ends each formed with a pivot hole, and each of the end caps has a side formed with a pivot portion pivotally mounted in the respective pivot hole of the rotation shaft.</p><p>9. The roller shade in accordance with claim 6, wherein each of the end caps has a side formed with a fixing portion mounted on a respective end of the fixing shaft.</p><p>10. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein the first shade layers and the second shade layers of the shade body are arranged in a successively staggered manner.</p><p>11. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein the shade body is separated by the intermediate bending portion into two spaced parallel shade sheets.</p><p>12. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein each of the first shade layers of the shade body is a transparent layer.</p><p>13. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein each of the second shade layers oithe shade body is a translucent layer.</p><p>1 4. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a rolling rod rotatably mounted in the intermediate bending portion of the shade body to produce a weight to the shade body so that the shade body is located at an upright state.</p><p>16. The i-oiler shade in accordance with claim 15, further comprising two positioning plugs each inserted into a respective end of the rolling rod, and two positioning members each mounted on the rolling rod and rested on the intermediate bending portion of the shade body to position the rolling rod.</p><p>17. The roller shade in accordance with claim 16, wherein each of the positioning plugs has an inside formed with a slot and an annular retaining groove, each of the positioning members has a first end provided with an insert inserted into the slot of the respective positioning plug and a second end provided with two limit wings rested on a respective end of the intermediate bending portion of the shade body, and the insert of each of the positioning members has a periphery provided with an annular retaining flange inserted into the retaining groove of the respective positioning plug.</p><p>18. The roller shade in accordance with claim 1, wherein the rolling rod has a hollow inside, and each of the positioning plugs is a flexible tube.</p><p>21. A roller shade constructed and arranged to function substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.</p><p>Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows Claims:- 1. A roller shade comprising:-a headrail; a fixing shaft securely mounted in the headrail, the fixing shaft having an inside formed with a receiving space which has a periphery formed with an elongated slot; a rotation shaft rotatably mounted in the headrail and a pull cord for effecting rotation of the rotation shaft; a shade body having a first end secured to the fixing shaft, a second end wound round the rotation shaft to rotate therewith and an intermediate portion located between the first end and the second end and protruding outwardly from the headrail, the shade body having a surface formed with a plurality of first shade layers and a plurality of second shade layers different from the first shade layers, the first end of the shade body extending through the elongated slot of the fixing shaft into the receiving space of the fixing shaft so as to permit adjustment of the length of the shade body; a rod rotatably mounted in the intermediate portion of the shade body to apply a weight to the shade body so that the shade body is located in an upright state; *::: two positioning plugs, one inserted in each end of the rod; and two positioning members, each having a first end engaged with the respective positioning plug, and a second end provided with limit wings each engaged with a respective end of the intermediate portion of the shade body.</p><p>2. A roller shade in accordance with Claim 1, wherein the headrail has a front side formed with a downwardly extending cover. 3.</p><p>3. A roller shade in accordance with Claim 2, wherein the fixing shaft is covered by the cover of the headrail.</p><p>4. A roller shade in accordance with Claim 2, wherein the rotation shaft is covered by the cover of the head rail.</p><p>5. A roller shade in accordance with Claim 1, in which the first shade layers are transparent and the second shade layers are translucent.</p><p>6. A roller shade in accordance with Claim 1, in which each of the positioning plugs has an inside formed with a slot and an annular retaining groove.</p><p>7. A roller shade in accordance with Claim 6, in which the slot in each of the positioning plugs receives the first end of the respective positioning member.</p><p>8. A double-layer roller shade substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.</p>
