Abstract
A device for indicating loss of tension in a nut or bolt, particularly a wheel nut or bolt comprises a body (1) for engaging the external surface of a nut or bolt head (3), and indicating means (2) engagable with the body (1), for indicating the radial position of the nut or bolt head.
Description

1 2436356 citn The present invention is a maintenance and safety
device. The invention is used as an indication device for vehicle wheels.

A common method is attaching a vehicle wheel to a rotating hub, is to provide a number of fixed threats studs on the rota table hub. The wheel is attached to the hub by means of wheel nuts engaging the studs passing through opening spaces in the wheel.

The present invention provides a safety indication device for indication displacement between the first fixed member, namely the studs on the rota table hub, and the Second member as the wheel nut fixed to the stud.

The invention can by visual check indicate that one or more nuts is working loose, even when it only moved a small amount.

The invention Provides a device containing 2 parts, and which makes it Possible to clamp the device to the nut, in relation to a reference point within 360-degree circle around the centerline of the nut.

This invention is for example not limited in the amount of fitting positions in relation to other devices, were the fitting Positions and direct the pointer Positions are limited.

Pre-assembled device The device can be pre-fitted, as shown in figure 4 where the body (1) and the fine tuner (2) are shown as being pre-assembled, but both parts still separate movable in radial direction.

The pre-assembled device can be fitted freely over the nut (3) as shown in figure 6, without force or clamping the nut.

Not pre fitted In case the device is not pre-fitted, the stages are as follows.

The body (1) needs to be fitted on the wheel nut (2) shows in the cross section of figure 10, and can be moved freely in axial direction of the nut (2).

The second stage is to fit the fine tuner (1) over the body and nut as shown in figure 6 and 7.

The device is not clamping the nut ()with force and still capable of rotation radial freely or just with a little friction.

Both assemblies The third stage is shown in figure 8 for both pre-assembled and not pre-assembled devices, is to rotate the fine tuner (2) in radial direction to the nut (3) to any reference point. The cross-section in figure 9 shows that the fine tuner (2) is can rotate and the body and nut aren't moving, but still the device isn't clamping the nut (3), and that is prevented to loosen in axial direction.

The fourth stage as shown in figure 11 in which the fine tuner (1) is pushed towards the wheel (12) till it locks and clamps the body (1) by detail (8) mating the wheel nut (3).

The clamping is shown in the cross section of figure 12, and also is shown that the fine tuner (2) detailed by (10) is locked to the body by detail (4) and (13) to prevent from further axial movement.

In addition detail 7 shown on figure 2 can be used to prevent rotation the device in radial direction after fitted in the clamping position.

The reference can be any point, like a datum, a line, an other device like this invention or an wheel nut or any other indicating device.

To make the assembly easier between the body (1) and the fine tuner (2) a piece of material (15) links both devices as shown in figure 13.

Figure 1 This figure shows the device containing two parts, namely a body (1) and the second part is the fine tuner (2) and the nut (3), as a wheelnut engaging the studs of the rotatable hub, passing through opening spaces in the wheel of a vehicle. The wheel is shown partly (12).

Figure 2 This figure shows the body (1), containing a inner site (8) to meet the side of the nut, a detail (7) on the outer side of the body, a device (4) for the use for pre-assembly, a detail (5) for clamping the body (1) to the fine tuner (2) and detail (6) as a device for locking the body (1) and the fine tuner (2) in combination for clamping the wheelnut (3).

Detail 13 prevents that the fine tuner can be pushed further than the locking position.

Figure 3 This figure shows the fine tuner (2), with details regarding a pointer (9) and a detail (10) to be used for pre-assembly and br for locking this pieces to the body (1). Detail 14 is the inner side of the fine tuner to mate with the body for clamping.

Figure 4 This figure shows the devise as a pre-assembled device (11, which is a combination of the body (1) and the fine tuner (2), but pre-assembled.

Figure 5 This figure shows a cross-section of the pre-assembled device and a possibility of pre fastening. Here a concept combination of holding the two pieces is shown, were detail (4) mates the fine tuner on detail (10) to prevent coming loose easily in axial direction, but both pieces can move in radial direction separately direction freely, or just with a very little friction.

Figure 6 This figure shows that the device is assembled, and fitted over the nut, without clamping the nut with force.

Fjure 7 This figure shows a cross section of figure 6, and the device (11) is not claimping the nut (3) and still capable of rotation radial freely.

Figure 8 This figure shows that the fine tuner (2) can rotate radial from the body (1) and the nut (3).

FLgure 9 This figure shows a cross section about the fitment and the fact that the device is not clamping the nut 3, and theat the fine tuner (2) can rotate with radial movement and it is prevented to move axial.

Figure 10 This figure shows the body (1) fitted over, but not clamping the wheel nut (3).

Figure 11 This picture shows the fine tuner (1) is pushed towards the wheel (12) till it locks and clamps the body (1) and the device to the wheel nut (3).

Fjure 12 This figure shows a cross-section of figure 11, and shows the locking and clamping position.

The fine tuner (2) detailed by (10) is locked to the body by detail (6) in combination with detail (13) to prevent from further axial movement.

Detail (14) as the inner side of the fine tuner (2) is pushing the body (I) detail (5) towards the nut, and clamps the device to the nut (3), so the device is locked and cannot freely move or rotate in axial or radial direction, besides with the nut(3).

FLaure 13 This figure shows a piece of material (15), which links the two pieces as a pair. 6.
