Abstract

A device for picking up dog excrement that has a grabbing device 1 attached to the bottom of a walking stick 8. Preferably the closing grab 1 is covered with a polythene (RTM) bag, which may be placed over the excrement and the grab 1 activated from the handle via a finger ring 4 or trigger that moves the grabber 1 pivotally via a cord or wire connection/linkage 3 allowing the grabber to grip the excrement between the grab 1 and the pad/anvil 5 located at the base of the stick. The open position is maintained by use of a spring 2 or rubber band. When the excrement is lifted, the bag is turned inside out and removed from the stick. The device may be fitted to an existing walking stick via plastic ties 10 (Fig 3).

The invention relates to a walking stick dog excrement collector or picker/recoverer.
Poopa- scoops are shovel like devices that are used to clear away dog excrement but they do not recover the fouling effectively. Some poopa scoops require the dog owner to bend down and slide the offending mess into a container. Walking sticks are commonly used by many dog walkers.
According to the present invention there is provided a walking stick with a Anti closing grab at the lower end of the stick that is covered with a polythene,, bag.
The bag and the grab are positioned over the excrement and the grab is activated from the handle via a cord or wire coMection/linkage. When the excrement is lifted the bag is carefully turned inside out and removed from the bottom of the walking stick.
Preferably the device would be made from injection moulded plastic.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with references to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a side elevation of the grab in an open position and the activating connections Figure 2 illustrates the front elevation of the grab in the open position Figure 3 shows the attachment version of the grab; and Figure 4 shows the polythene,tcollection bag in the recovery position.
Referring to the drawing, the grab comprises of a traditional walking stick 6 that has been modified by cutting a slot 8 in the lower section of the stick. The grab arm is fixed with a fulcrum pin 14. A padlanvil 5 is fixed to the end of the stick.
Linkage 3 is provided by connecting the grab to a finger ring 4 or trigger I 1.
The open position is maintained by use of a spring 2 or rubber band.
Alternate arrangements can be made by using the attachment shown in figure 3. This is fitted to an existing walking stick by means of plastic ties 10. A trigger device 11 is fixed under the handle.
The collection bag 12 is placed over the end of the device before it is positioned over the dog excrement 13. The grab would then be operated by pulling the finger ring 4 or trigger 11. After recovering the dog excrement from the ground tom) the polytheneiag is carefully turned inside out over the excrement.

Claims (8)

  1. I. A walking stick dog excrement picker comprises of a traditional walking stick that has been purpose made with a grab device on the lower end of the stick.
  2. 2. A walking stick dog excrement picker comprises of a grab device that is attached to the lower part of an existing walking stick.
  3. 3. A walking stick dog excrement picker is used in conjunction with a polythene dog excrement bag or a polytheneócarrier bag.
  4. 4. A walking stick dog excrement picker means that the operative/ user does not have to bend or crouch down to recover the dog excrement.
  5. 5. A walking stick dog excrement picker means that the dog excrement is dealt with at arms length well away from the user.
  6. 6. A walking stick dog excrement picker eliminates the unpleasant task of handling the dog excrement through the bag.
  7. 7. A walking stick dog excrement picker can also be used for recovering any other small amounts of material.
  8. 8. A walking stick dog excrement picker substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
