Abstract

The invention relates to an electric shaver, which incorporates a light source to provide illumination of the shaving area, having a focussed light adjacent to or within the shaver head. The light source consisting of an electrically energised bulb.

Description The invention relates to an electric shaver, which incorporates a light source to provide illumination of the shaving area.
Electric shavers are well known but suffer from the disadvantage that when shaving darkened areas such as beneath the jaw-line, it is difficult to appraise the effectiveness of the shave. Shaving in poor light conditions also adds to this problem.
An object of the invention is to provide lighting of the shaded areas adjacent to the shaver head.
Accordingly, this invention provides an electric shaver incorporating a built-in light source located adjacent to the shaver head.
The light source will consist of an electrically energised bulb possessing features appropriate to this application namely : . Compactness Low Energy Consumption-relative to high luminescence A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1-Shows a view of the whole shaver FIGURE 2-Shows a modification of the location of the light source As shown in Figure 1, the electric shaver comprises a shaver body 1 ; having a shaver head 2; a light 3 incorporated adjacent to the head. A separate On/Off switch 4 is provided for the light source.
Power is provided from a mains source via the power interface 5.
Figure 2 shows a modification of the location of the light source, 6, for an alternative shaver head 7 The shower body may incorporate a battery unit, which is charged from a mains source, to allow usage of the shaver without connection to a mains supply.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS What I claim as new and desire to secure by letters of Patent of the UK is: A light source incorporated into the body of an electrical hand-held shaver, adjacent to the shaver head to provide illumination of the shaving surface, and means of avoiding otherwise shaded shaving areas.
