Abstract

A mobile phone backup device, with a separate mobile phone connecting device that could also be wireless, having a storage unit, an operation unit and a control/display unit that performs functions including backup and update method for multiple phonebook entries, backup method for text messages, a retrieve and store method for mobile phone(s) serial number(s), a global search method for searching text strings in all of the different memory sections, backup method for audio tones/voice messages, backup method for video messages, password protection for access to stored information and user input ability. Upon user input, the control unit controls the display unit to display a sequence of menu list where the user can select an option and perform series of operations listed.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION MOBILE PHONE BACKUP This invention is a mobile phone backup device.
The concept of my invention calls for the manufacture and distribution of a device that would provide backup tor the phonebook records and important text messages stored within a mobile phone's directory. This concept is intended to provide mobile phone users with a means of keeping their phonebook records as well as important text messages stored in a separate unit so that all of this information would not be lost should the phone be lost or misplaced. This, then eliminate s the need to carry a separate notebook containing the numbers in written form.
However, there is one downside to this technology. Should the phone be lost or stolen, all of the owner's phonebook are gone as well. At a minimum, this leaves the user facing tedious chore of re-entering every phone number along with the associated names and related information, into the new phone that is purchased to replace the one that was lost or stolen. In some instances, though, the phone may have been the sole repository for some numbers and hence the records would not be available for re-entry regardless of how much of an inconvenience this imposes.
To correct this shortcoming, this device would consist of a separate device that would be connected to the mobile phone and to which the phone's phonebook records as well as any important text messages to the user could be downloaded. Any records that have been added or updated in the phone since the last download would be automatically updated in the storage unit's memory. The information in this device could also be transferred into a new phone. This device could also stores the mobile phone (s)'s serial number (s) thus assuring that it could be retrieved should the phone be lost or stolen.
