Abstract

A remote-controllable electronic appliance (e.g. TV) can call its remote controller, to make a sound to enable the user to find the remote controller. The remote controller responds with an answer sound only when an identification code sent by the appliance is equal to a previously set remote controller identification code. Power is supplied to the call signal receiver in the remote controller for a very short time period (preferably 40-60 ms), thereby significantly elongating the battery expectancy as compared to the conventional case in which the call signal receiver is always kept at a standby mode.
