Abstract

A device to facilitate the opening of a letter box in a door comprises a tubular member wherein one inner tube is spring loaded inside an outer tube, activation of the spring loaded mechanism being by means of rotating a handle at one end of the tubular member. The device is also provided with a wrist strap and finger rest. The outermost end of the inner tube is also provided with a rubber stopper.

device for door letter box (see figures 1,2,3,4) designed to facilitate the mailing process as well as to protect injuries to the fingers of post man while inserting mail through door letter box (see figure 4). The device is made of hard plastic with rubber to allow easy usage and handling. As shown in figure 1, the device is consists of a handle, wrist strap, door letterbox opener, finger rest, extended an-n, and loading spring.
The device can be easily operated by lifting the outer flap of the door mail box by the letter box opener (see figure 2), then pushing the handle which releases a catch which in turn releases the spring loaded barrel, that release the extended arm to push the inner flap of the door letter box open leaving a clear way for the letter to be pushed through. (see figure _3)) Stopping the pushing process to the handle would retrieve the extended ann to its normal position.

2. Device as in claim 1, made of hard plastic with rubber to allow easy usage and handling.
3. Device as in claim 1, has a comfortable round handle with a wrist strap for easily holding and usage.
4. Device as in claim 3, can be pushed gently to release a catch, which in turn releases the spring-loaded barrel, that release the extended arm to push the inner flap of the door letterbox. Thus leaving a clear and safe way for the letter to be pushed through. Stopping the pushing process to the handle would retrieve the extended arm to its normal position.
5. Device as in claim 1, has a letterbox opener made of hard plastic and covered with rubber to avoid scratching to the door letterbox. It IS designed to lift up the outer flap of the door letterbox and prevents direct contact between the door letterbox and the fingers of the postman.
6. Device as in claim 1, has a figure rest made of hard plastic covered with r-ubber to avoid any scratching to the door letterbox. It is designed to act as a support for pushing the round handle forward to releases the extended arm.
7. Device as in claim 1, has loading spring releases the extended arm when the round handle is pushed forward.
8. Device as in claim 1, has an extended arm with a rubber stopper at the end to prevent any scratching to the door letterbox. It is designed to lift up the inner flap of the door letterbox.
"I Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A device to facilitate the opening of a letter box in a door, the device comprising two tubes telescopically mounted one inside the other together with a spring-loaded mechanism, wherein activation of the spring- loaded mechanism causes the inner tube to extend beyond the outer tube.
2. A device as claimed in claim I wherein a handle is mounted at one end of the outer tube such that activation of the spring-loaded mechanism is caused by pushing said handle.
3. A device as claimed in claim I or claim 2 wherein the outermost end of the inner tube is provided with a rubber stopper.
4. A device as claimed in any preceding claim wherein one or more finger rests are mounted on the outer tube.
5. A device as claimed in any preceding claim wherein a strap is connected to the device.
6. A device as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the device is made from a plastics material.
7. A device as claimed in any preceding claim and substantially as hereinbefore described with a reference to the accompanying drawings.
