Abstract

An anti-theft security device comprises a bar fixed to a backplate fitted over grooved wheel nuts or bolts and a locking plate with keyhole slots which is located in the grooves and locked to the backplate with a padlock. The security device allows the owner or user of a vehicle, self propelled or towed to secure that vehicle by preventing the rotation of one or more wheels by fitting the device which is locked in position and strikes the ground when an attempt is made to move the vehicle. <IMAGE>

Description

HUBLDCK This invention is a security device for wheeled vehicles, primarily for use on trailed vehicles but applicable to any wheeled vehicle where wheels are retained by nuts or bolts.
It is designed to immobilize the vehicle by prevention of the rotation of on or ore of it's wheels. It is designed as a method of providing security to the owner, user, or hirer of any given vehicle, self propelled or trailed, rather than as a means of immobilising the vehicle by another party for illegal or nuisance parking etc prior to removal.
The Hublock comprises four majon componerlts. It is shown in its assenbled form as it would be fitted to a wheel in ii 1. The components are (a) special wheelnuts shown In lig or alternatively special bolts shown in fig. 3b (B@ Body with integral backplate shown in fig 3. (C) locking platge shown in fig 4. (D) Padlock.
The method of securing a vehicle using this invention is as follows. The vehicle wheelnuts are removed on one wheel and are replaced by the special nuts or in some cases bolts (figs 2a & 2b) as shown in fig 5. These nuts remain a fixture of the vehicle. When the vehicle is required to be secure the body of the Hublock is fitted over the nuts (or bolts) via the holes in the backplate which correspond to the position of the nuts. The locking plate is then fitted via the radial 'keyhole slots' over each of the nuts and locked into position by turning the locking plate anti-clockwise to allow the reduced portion of the keyhole slot to engage the groove in the special nuts < er bolts).
The locking plate is then locked to the backplate by means of a padlock, see fig 6a, 6b, 6c. the body of the device is now secured to the wheel and cannot be removed. The wheel will not rotate as the body of the device will strike the ground thus the vehicle may not be towed or driven.

Claims (2)

  1. (1) A wheel securing device where the wheel is immobilised by the use of a locking plate locating into grooved nuts or bolts using keyhole slots, this plate then locked to a body or bar which prevents the rotation of the wheel.
    (2? h wheel securing device as claimed in claim 1 wherein the locking plate is located to the body by locking bus or clip.
    (3) A wheel securing device as claimed in claim 1 an 2 where the rotation of the locking plate is replaced by sliding motion.

    (6) A securing device as claimed in claims 1,2,3,4, & 5, which is used to immobilise operation wheels on industrial and agricultural machinery to prevent start up or operation or part operation of same.
