Abstract

A writing implement holder comprises a body 1 having a plurality of holes 2 for receiving an end of a writing implement 6, and slotted to receive the user's belt 5. Alternatively the holder may be clipped to the person's clothing. The holder is arranged so that, when worn by the user, the writing implements 6 project towards the user's right hand and forwardly from his body. The holes 2 may be arranged for receiving the caps of the writing implements, the caps being a push-fit or bonded into the holes. Alternatively the caps may be integral with the holder. The bottom of the holder may be hollow to receive a board rubber. <IMAGE>

Description

WRITING IMPLEMENT HOLDER This invention relates to a writing implement holder for attaching to an article of clothing.
Lecturers and others who make presentations on flipcharts use a variety of different writing implements in the course of their presentations. Hitherto such a user has held several pens in the hand and has to cap one pen and uncap another at each change-over. Often the user drops a pen and risks that a pen will dry up because it has remained uncapped for too long.
We have now devised a writing implement holder which alleviates the above mentioned problems.
In accordance with this invention there is provided a writing implement holder comprising a body having a plurality of holes formed therein each for receiving an end of a writing implement, the body further comprising means for attaching the writing implement holder to the body of a person.
The writing implement holder is preferably provided with one or more loops which enable it to be attached to a belt. Alternatively the writing implement holder may be provided with one or more clips for engaging an article of the person's clothing.
The holes are preferably arranged so that the writing implements project upwardly from the body of the holder.
Preferably the plane of the holes is inclined to the horizontal so that the writing implements project outwardly from the person's body when the writing implement holder is worn. Preferably the plane of the holes is also inclined to the horizontal so that the writing implements project towards one side of the person's body when the writing implement holder is worn.
The holes are preferably arranged for receiving the caps of writing implements. The caps may push-fit into the holes or they may be bonded into the holes. Thus a person acquiring a writing implement holder may choose which type of writing implement to use with the holder.
Alternatively the caps may be formed integrally with the writing implement holder so that only one type of writing implement can be inserted. Thus a person would acquire a writing implement holder with the writing implements already inserted.
An embodiment of this invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIGURE 1 is a plan view of a writing implement holder in accordance with this invention; FIGURE 2 is a side view of the holder shown in Figure 1; FIGURE 3 is an end view of the holder shown in Figure 1; and FIGURE 4 is a perspective view of the holder fitted to a belt.
Referring to Figures 1 to 3 of the drawings, there is shown a writing implement holder comprising a body 1. The body 1 comprises a six-faced block of plastics material having four downwardly-extending holes or sockets 7 arranged in a line along its upper face. The upper face is rectangular in shape and the sockets 7 are spaced apart along its length.
A vertical slot 4 extends horizontally through the body 1 between opposite end faces. The plane of the slot 4 lies parallel to the rear face of the body 1.
The upper face is inclined from end-to-end at an angle a to the horizontal, and is also inclined from side-to-side at an angle ss to the horizontal. The holes 7 extend perpendicular to the upper face.
The tops of selected writing implements e.g. 3 are bonded into the holes 7 as shown at 2.
In use the user attaches the writing implement to his body by passing his belt through the slot 4, which forms a loop for the belt, as shown in Figure 4. It will be appreciated that the upper face of the body is angled away from the user's body and towards his right hand to facilitate the insertion and removal of writing implements.
A cover may be provided which fits onto the base. The cover may have formations for holding refills for the writing implements.
The bottom of the base may be hollow to have a board rubber clipped into it.
