Abstract

225,854. Kiekert, F. W. Dec. 3, 1923, [Convention date]. Knobs and handles, attaching. - A door handle, has a pair of round spindles rigidly connected to it and passing through two holes in the follower into two holes in the hub of the other handle in which they are secured by a grub screw which is concealed by the rose plate after assembly. The spindles 1, 2 are permanently secured to the handle, 3 by a rivet 4 and pass through two holes in the follower 5. Two holes 7, 8 in the hub of the handle 6 are provided to receive the spindles which are secured therein by a grub screw 10 engaged in a tapped bore 9 in the hub of the handle 6. The holes 7, 8 allow for varying the position of the knob 6 on the spindles 1, 2 to allow for varying thicknesses of doors. A small file may be inserted in the hole 9 to file recesses in the spindles 1, 2 adjacent to the bore 9, or the screw 10 may have hardened teeth on its end for cutting grooves in the spindles during its engagement with the tapped hole for holding the knob 6 more securely on the spindle. The screw 10 is concealed by the rose 12 which is attached to the face plate 11.
