Abstract
The reversing mirror when fixed to the rear of a vehicle should alleviate blind spots and help whilst reversing. The main housing is fixed to the rear of a vehicle in a way so as to give a wider field of view to the rear of the vehicle. Inside the housing is a reflecting mirror set so as to give the best possible angle for the vehicle it is fitted to, this angle can either be a set angle with the reflecting mirror permanently fixed or an adjustable angle with the reflecting mirror suspended on a fixed swivel at one end and with means of adjustment to alter the field of view at the other end. <IMAGE>
Description
REVERSING MIRROR
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A REVERSING MIRROR
MANY VEHICLES HAVE WHAT IS KNOWN AS A BLIND SPOT DIRECTLY
BEHIND THEM. THIS INVENTION. COMPRISING A HOUSING CONTAINING A
REFLECTING MIRROR IS FIXED TO THE REAR OF A VEHICLE AND GIVES
AN INCREASED FIELD OF VIEW THAT PARTIALLY OR DEFENDING ON THE
VEHICLE WHOLLY ELiMiNATES THE BLiND SPOT BEHIND THE VEHICLE.
THE ACCOMPIANING DRAWING SHOWS TWO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES AS
VIEWED FROM THE NEAR SiDE.
FIGURE 1 1 IS OF A VAN WITHOUT THE REVERSING MIRROR FITTED. THE FIELD OF VIEW THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW AND THE BLIND SFOT THAT
EXISTS.
FIGURE 2 IS OF A VAN FITTED WITH THE REVERSING MIRROR SHOWING
THE INCREASED FIELD OF VIEW FROM THE USE OF THE MIRROR.
THE HOUSING 1S CONSTRUCTED FROM ONE OR MORE COMPONENTS AND
CONTAINS A REFLECTING MIRROR EITHER FIXED AT A SET ANGLE OR
HELD BY OTHER MEANS IN SUCH A WAY AS TO ALLOW ADJUSTMENT OF
THE REFLECTING MIRROR. THE REFLECTING MIRROR CAN BE OF ONE OR
MORE PIECES SO AS TO ALLDW AN EVEN GREATER FIELD OF VIEW.
THE HOUSING CAN ALSO FORM PART OF THE VEHICLES BODYWORlt,TRIM,OR FITTINGS SO AS TO BLEND IN BETTER.
Claims (5)

COMPONENTS INTO WHICH IS FIXED A REFLECTING MIRROR EITHER
SECURELY AT A FIXED ANGLE OR BY OTHER MEANS TO PERMIT
ADJUSTMENT OF THE MIRROR IN THE HOUSING SO AS TO ALLOW AN
ALTERABLE FIELD OF VIEW.
2) A REVERSING MIRROR AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 WHICH CAN EE FITTED BY MEANS OF MECHANICAL FIXINGS OR BE ADHESIVE OR A C011ElN^TION OF THE TWO ONTO,ABOVE OR TO THE SIDE OF A VEHlCLES
REAR WINDOW OR WINDOWS.
3) A REVERSING MIRROR AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 OR CLAIM 2 IN
WHICH THE REFLECTING MIRROR IS IN ONE OR MORE PIECES SO AS TO
ALLOW TWO OR MORE FIELDS OF VIEW FROM THE SAME UNIT.
4) A REVERSING MIRROR AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 OR 2 OR 3 OF WHICH
THE HOUSING FORMS A FUNCTIONAL OR COSMETIC PART OF THE
VEHICLES BODYWORK,TRIM OR FITTINGS.
5) A REVERSING MIRROR AS CLAIMED IN CLAIMS 1,2,3 & IN WHICH
THE MIRROR HOUSING OR THE REFLECTING PORT1ON OF THE MIRROR
ITSELF IS FIXED BY THE MEANS CLAIMED IN ANY OF THE ABOVE
CLAIMS TO, OR FORMING PART OF, THE VEHICLES BODYWORK, TRIM OR
