Abstract
A domestic electrical switch system dispenses with wiring in the walls by providing that a switch unit is attached to the wall at any desired point and controls a control unit by radiated energy, the control unit being on a switchable domestic electrical appliance at any other desired point.
Description
WIRELESS LIGHT SWITCH.
The general idea of the product is to eliminate all wiring required between a conventional light switch and the lamp in order to save the inconvienience of channeling out walls to accept wires and for safety to keep high voltages away from the user (ie. bathrooms etc).
This can be performed in two basic ways: 1, BY THE USE OF INFRA-RED 2, BY THE USE OF A RADIO SIGNAL
The system will consist of transmitter and a reciever. The transmitter would be Pixed to an appropriate surface with a reciever placed either in the ceiling rose or at a suitable remote position.
The transmitter and reciever units can be either coded or uncoded
Example of application,
Say for example you are redecorating a room and/or carrying out alterations and as a result of this you require a light switch moved from one position to another. At present whether you do this your self or call in an electrician there is only one way of doing this - that is to decide where the new switch is to be located, find the wires in the ceiling and run new cables into the wall to the point at which the new switch is to be positioned - which is not an easy job even for an electrician and this also ruins any existing decorations and can be very costly.
NOW WITH THIS NEW PRODUCT THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE.
d
The existing light switch wires are bypass and the feed to the existing slighting fitting passed through an INFRA-RED or RADIO
RECIEVER that is turned on and of f by a small battery operated transmitter That will take the place of the original light switch, this transmitter switch can then be mounted anywhere that you require by simply sticking (By means of an adhesive tape) or by screwing to a surface at the required location.
Two versions will be available 1) A simple uncoded version ie. ANY switch will operate all lights 2)A more complex coded version which will allow several units to operate in the same room without interfering with each other ie.EACH LIGHT WILL ONLY OPERATE WHEN ITS CORRESPONDING SWITCH IS
OPERATED.
The invention proposes a switch-system comprising a switch unit and a control unit, the latter controlling the former by radiated energy, and the switch unit being directly associated with a switchable domestic electrical appliance.
Claims (5)
1. A switch system comprising a switch unit and a control unit, the latter controlling the former by radiated energy, and the switch unit being directly associated with a switchable domestic electrical appliance and controlling its power supply.
2. A switch system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the appliance is a domestic lighting appliance.
3. A switch system as claimed in claim 2 wherein the control unit is a wall mounting unit having means of attachment to a wall.
4. A switch system as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the control unit is coded so that only a correspondingly coded switch unit responds.
5. A switch system as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the energy is of radio frequency or infrared frequency.
