Abstract

A blank for making a folder comprises a base 10, flaps 11, 12, 18, 19, attached to the sides of the base and a cut-out 25 in one of the flaps having at least one aperture 30, 31 by which it can be hung on a peg. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Folder This invention relates to folders for enclosing flat articles, for example sheets of carbon paper and its main object is to provide a folder which can be cut out of sheet material, e.g. cardboard and has means whereby it can be easily displayed for self service.
According to the invention the folder is cut out of sheet material including integral means which can be bent out when required to serve as a hanging facility in self-service locations.
In a constructional form of the invention a blank is cut out of cardboard and comprises a rectangular sheet having a first flap at one narrow end provided with two slits, a second flap at the other end provided with tabs adapted to engage in the slits when in use, and a cut out in the second flap in which there are two holes with a bend line between them so that they can be brought into alignment so that it may be placed on a suitable peg.
The blank may have a flap at each long side to which the first flap can be secured by adhesive.
A folder suitable for containing packs of carbon papers is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying diagrammatic drawings wherein: Figure 1 shows the blank before folding and, Figure 2 shows the folder as in use.
The blank comprises a rectangular sheet 10 having a first flap 11 at one narrow end and a second flap 12 at the opposite end. The flap 11 has two slits 13, 14 and the flap 12 has two tabs 15, 16 at its corners adapted to enter the slits 13, 14.
Flaps 18, 19 are provided at the long edges of the sheet 10 and have cut outs 20, 21 to accommodate the flaps 15, 16.
The flaps are separated from the sheet 10 by narrow strips 22 having bend lines on each side and the width of these is selected to allow for the thickness of the carbon packs to be enclosed.
The flap 12 has a cut out 25 which remains attached to the sheet 10 at 26.
The cut out has two openings 30, 31 of identical shape with a fold line 32 between them.
To make the folder, the flaps 18, 19 are turned over on to the sheet 10; the flap 11 is turned over and secured to the flaps 19, 20 by adhesive. The carbon papers are inserted and the flap 12 is turned over and secured to the flap 11 by an adhesive label 28. The flap 25 may remain in the opening 33 unless the hanging facility is required whereupon the flap 25 is pulled out and bent about the line 32 to bring the finger holes 30, 31 into alignment as shown in Figure 2.
1. A blank for making a holder for enclosing or supporting articles, comprising a base portion having at least one straight side and a flap integraliy attached to said straight side, a marginal region of said base or flap having at the region of attachment of said flap to said base a cut-out which can be moved from a stowed position where it lies within the thickness of the base or flap from which it is formed to an extended position at which it projects from the base or flap, said cut-out having at least one aperture by which the holder can be hung on a supporting peg when the cut-out is in its projecting position.
2. A blank as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cut-out is divided by a fold line parallel to the straight side forming a hinge region, said cut-out having two apertures, one on each side of the fold, which apertures can be brought into alignment when the cut-out is folded along the fold line.
3. A blank as claimed in claim 2, wherein the distal end of the cut-out is provided with two ears extending in opposite directions to each other and parallel to the fold line, said ears being engageable behind marginal regions of the cut-out as the portions thereof on each side of the fold line are folded together.
4. A blank as claimed in Claim 1, 2 or 3, wherein the base is rectangular and is provided with flaps attached to all four sides, of which the flap attached at said straight side is arranged at a short side at the top of the blank, the flaps on the longer sides being capable of being folded between the flaps on the shorter sides.
5. A blank as claimed in claim 4, wherein one of the flaps on the shorter sides has two slits and the opposite flap has two tabs which can be engaged in the slits.
6. A blank as claimed in Claim 4, wherein narrow strips to form side walls are interposed between the longer sides of the base and the flaps attached thereto with fold lines being provided in each case between the strip and the base and the strip and the flap.
7. A blank as claimed in Claim 1 substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
8. A holder made from the blank claimed in claim 4 or 5 and containing a pack of carbon paper, wherein one of the shorter flaps opposite to the cut-out is attached to the longer flaps by adhesive and the other shorter flap is attached to said one flap by an adhesive label.
