Abstract

SPECIFICATION Paint kettle This invention relates to a paint kettle.

When a decorator using a conventional paint kettle wishes to change from one paint to another, it is necessary for him to remove the paint from the kettle by burning and then to clean the kettle with white spirit. This is a tedious and time consuming operation.

According to my invention, there is provided a paint kettle comprising a carrier and a replacable and disposable liner for containing paint, the liner being adapted to fit into the carrier. Thus, in the case of the paint kettle of the invention, when the decorator wishes to change from one paint to another, it is merely necessary for him to remove the liner and to replace it by a new liner.

For a better understanding of the invention, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a paint kettle of the invention; Figure 2 is an elevational view, partly in section, of the paint kettle of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a view from below of the left hand side of the paint kettle of Figure 1; and Figure 4 is a view from above of the left hand side of the paint kettle of Figure 1.

Referring to the drawings, the paint kettle includes a rigid carrier having side walls 1 and a base 2, the former having a peripheral rim 3 including portions 4 in which are fitted the ends of a wire handle 5. The paint kettle includes a liner 6 designed to fit loosely into the carrier. This liner 6 is a disposable container for the paint, and, when the decorator wishes to change from one paint to another, it is merely necessary for the liner 6 to be disposed of and for a new liner to be fitted into the carrier.

As shown in Figure 3, the base of the carrier consists of two integrai cross members 7 fixed to the side walls 1. As shown in the drawings, the side walls and base, if desired, may be provided with cutout portions, to achieve a saving in the quantity of material required to make the carrier.

The carrier can be made of any suitable rigid material, such as a rigid plastics material.

Similarly the liner 6 can be made of any suitable material, and is preferably a flexible or rigid plastics material.

The internal diameter of the carrier is preferably 443 inches (12.1 mm) at the top thereof and 42 inches (11.4 mm) at the base thereof. The depth of the carrier is preferably 4 inches (12.1 mm). A liner designed to fit in a carrier of this size can contain approximately 1 litre of paint.

Claims (Filed on 2Sept1981) 1. A paint kettle comprising a carrier and a replaceable and disposable liner for containing paint, the liner being adapted to fit into the carrier.

2. A paint kettle as claimed in claim 1, wherein the liner is made of a flexible or rigid plastics kettle.

3. A paint kettle as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the carrier is made of a rigid plastics material.

4. A paint kettle substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to, and as shown in, the accompanying drawings.
