Abstract
202,809. Garrett, P. A. July 17, 1922. Actuating-mechanism.-A gas inlet valve 3 of an aerating-apparatus is actuated against a spring by a roller on a lever 45 acting on a ball 44, so that the valve cannot be held open, but only give a short sharp charge of gas. The lever 45 is so pivoted to a lever 2 that it opens the valve on moving upwards but slides over the ball 44 without action on moving down. The lever 45 may be replaced by a cam with sharp rises. The escape of gas from the aerating-chamber is controlled by a valve 35 operated by the lever 45 through a lever 31. In a slot in the valve 35 slides the stem of a valve 39 controlling the gas outlet from a chamber 15. When the valve 35 has moved a certain distance it opens the valve 39 through a pin-and-slot connection. If, however, the pressure in the chamber 15 becomes excessive it opens the valve 39 against the action of a spring without moving the valve 35.
