Abstract
A high frequency electric oven has a dielectric heating zone defined between a high frequency electrode (4) and an earthed electrode, for the drying of folded or pleated fibre cables (7). The fibre cables are transported through the oven on an endless screen or sieve belt (3) formed with apertures (31), and also constituting the earthed electrode. Into the oven chamber hot air (19) is blown from a source of hot air (12, 14), flows around the fibre cables (7) and flows out through the apertures (31) into a manifold (16) connected to a suction fan (18). Thereby, in addition to the drying by dielectric heating, hot-air drying also is achieved. <IMAGE>
