Abstract

An apparatus comprising a first conveyor (13) for a series of briquettes arranged close to one another, a second conveyor (15) of higher speed than the first conveyor for receiving briquettes from the first conveyor (13) and for depositing a predetermined number of briquettes on a briquette carrier (14) and a feed conveyor (10) associated with the first conveyor (13), the feed conveyor (10) being divided into a plurality of sections (101.102) each section being adapted to receive said predetermined number of briquettes, and each section being capable of being raised and lowered between a first and a second position, the receiving plane (A) of the feed conveyor being above the receiving plane (B) of the first conveyor in said first position and below the receiving plane of the first conveyor in said second position. <IMAGE>
