Abstract

To reduce axial length a gas turbine flame tube 10 is of disc-like annular form having fuel inlets 11 in its outer periphery discharging fuel radially inwardly. An annular outlet 12 radially inwardly of inlets 11 discharges combustion gases parallel to the axis of the flame tube 10 towards turbine guide vanes 21. A plenum chamber 15 surrounding flame tube 10 and an air casing 13 is fed with compressed air via annular passage 18. The flame tube may be formed from silicon nitride segments. <IMAGE>
