Abstract

In an oscillator circuit, a frequency determining element such as a capacitor is divided into two parts with one part C2 being made alternately operative and inoperative in accordance with a control signal whose duty cycle, frequency or both are varied for adjustment of the average oscillator frequency. The oscillator may be a quartz oscillator including CMOS transistors for use in an electronic timepiece wherein the oscillation frequency is desired to be adjusting to a predetermined value corresponding to the value set in a circuit 38. The control pulse CK for switching C2 is initiated by the output of the final stage of a counter divider 34 going low and terminated when a comparator 36 detects equality of the count state with the value set in 38 and defining the duty cycle. The duty cycle may alternatively be defined by an adjustable monostable multivibrator periodically triggered by a divided output of the oscillator. <IMAGE>
