Abstract

The receiver has an automatic scanner 2, a station signal decoder 6, a message signal decoder 7 and receiving level evaluator 10 as well as a control circuit 20 controlled by the said decoders and evaluator, the said control circuit interrupting the scanning operation and switching on the sound reproduction device 15 only when a traffic information broadcasting station which is worth receiving and which is transmitting traffic information is received. The control circuit 20 is constructed so that the number of traffic information broadcasting stations worth receiving is automatically limited depending upon their number and receiving level. For example the number of traffic information broadcasting stations received may be limited to a number e.g. two, 51, 52 of those received at the highest receiving level. <IMAGE>
