21,262. Bing, A. Sept. 26. Burglar and like alarms.-In a Wheatstonebridge burglar-alarm system, deviation of the bridge galvanometer G energizes a trigger relay 9, which (1) breaks the galvanometer needle circuit at 11, (2) closes the circuit of an alarm bell S at 12, (3) energizes a lamp circuit at 16, and (4) opens a normally-energized circuit 24, 25 at 17 so as to actuate distant alarm boxes 21. Failure of current for any cause in the circuit 24, 25 de-energizes a relay 22, which connects in the bell S. Any increase in the battery current supplied to the bridge-circuits, such as would be caused for instance by short-circuiting the bridge at the points 1, 3, energizes a relay 5, non-responsive to the normal current, which thereupon energizes the relay 9 and causes an alarm as already described. The bridge-circuits comprise resistances a, b, c, &c. of different values, and may include day and night circuits which may be substituted for each other.
