Abstract

5427. Allen, C. R. March 4. Electrically-controlled fastenings.-A spring- shot bolt b of a latch has pivoted to it a lever g having a slot g<10> engaging a pin on an armature h<1> of a solenoid h. The end of the bolt b is slotted to carry a spring-pressed bar j, which is operated by a follower n. When no current is flowing through the solenoid, the lever g is held up, as shown by a spring i, so that a part g<2> of an arm g<1> carried by the lever g engages the bar and thereby connects the follower with the bolt. When the solenoid is energized, the lever g is depressed so that the bar j moves through a gateway g<3> without actuating the bolt.
