[Cognate Application, 8959/10.] Linear - dimension gauges.-The rotatable part b of a micrometer gauge is provided with a sleeve a having a projecting finger c to enable the correct reading to be observed, so that in transferring the measurement, should the gauge be accidentally displaced, the exact reading can again be set. The turning part is gripped frictionally by the sleeve. If it is desired to gauge between limits, the sleeve is formed in two parts with two pointers, which can be set to the limits allowed. This arrangement is shown in Fig. 5. The sleeve a has two pointers c, d<1>; the pointer d' is formed on a band d which fits in a slot a<2> in the sleeve a and is limited in movement by the gap a<5>. Another arrangement is described in which three pointers are provided for the limits, above and below, and for the actual gauge measurement, a scale being marked on the part b and a vernier on the sleeve a.
