Abstract
29,300. Bates & Sons, J. & E., and Tidmarsh, A. H. Dec. 15. Lock mechanism; night-latches.-The locking- mechanism comprises a pivoted plate c adapted to be actuated by the key and to operate the bolt &c., and a series of gravity - controlled sliders h, notches l in which are adapted to engage projections n on the plate c to prevent its operation by other than the proper key. The mechanism is shown as applied to a nightlatch, it being housed in an adjustable casing a let into the outer face of the door and connected to the latch bolt by means of a bar f. The plate c is formed with or attached to the spindle d and is covered by a second plate c<1>, of similar shape but with a slot c<2>, within which the key acts to operate the plate c. The two plates c, c<1> are held together by the projections n. The sliders h are mounted between lugs g in the casing and are separated by washers o. The mechanism is stated to be applicable to padlocks &c.
