Abstract

184,863. Campbell, S. R. May 18, 1921. Butt joints. - The coupling-flanges 1, 2 of pipes and the face and seat of lift valves have respectively an annular groove 4 and rib 5, one of which is of rectangular section and the other of V-section so that on engagement they make two circles of contact. Each part may have both a rib and a groove to engage a groove and rib on the other part and thus make additional circles of contact. The rib may have a groove 6 in its upper surface so that sharp contact may be made with the base of groove 4 after the side contact surfaces become worn.
