163,340. Skipwith, H. L. d'E., and Taylor, H. J. Sept. 8, 1916. Coupling and capping.-A grip for securing a wire rope comprises a split or divided taper sleeve 1 sliding in a ball 3 which rests on a socket 4, so that (1) the pull of the rope tends to tighten the grip of the sleeve on the rope, and (2) the ball turns on the socket to accommodate itself to the line of pull of the rope. The interior of the taper sleeve is grooved or roughened to grip the rope.
