Abstract
163,186. Davila, A. F. March 26, 1920. Spray burners.-The atomizing ejector for the oil is supplied with steam generated in a part of the burner apparatus by the heat from the nozzle. The upper part of the steam-generating receptacle is shaped to receive from the nozzle a supply of oil for preliminarily heating the receptacle. The oil-supply pipe 1 leads through aT-shaped coupling 2 with clean-out plug 3 to a pipe section 6, with a flattened outlet 7, surrounded by a similarly-shaped pipe section 9. The pipe 10 leads to a four-way coupling 12 to which are secured a nipple 14 carrying the water-supply pipe 13, a plug 15 and pet-cock 16, and a bottle-shaped casting 18 having a concave upper surface 19. A small quantity of oil which may be ejected from the nozzle is ignited thereon to heat the chamber 18. A regulated supply of water is then admitted through the pipe 17 and is converted into steam passing out into the pipes 10, 9. A regulated quantity of oil is introduced into the tube 7, warmed by the steam and finally vaporized at the nozzle where the mixture burns in the form of a fan-shaped jet which provides sufficient heat to continue genera.ting steam in the receptacle 18.
