Abstract

155,441. Barnett, W., and Florendine, J. Nov. 21, 1919. Flexible shafts.-A flexible shaft consists of a series of short cylindrical blocks 1, mounted on ball bearings within rings 4, and having two U- shaped members 2, 3 fitted at right angles to each other in each block, which are connected directly or by links 7. The rings fit into a flexible tube 5, and have removable screw plugs 6 for inserting and replacing the balls. The U-shaped members 2, 3 have recesses which engage with a pin 8. In a modification, one of the U-shaped members is dispensed with and the links 7 are made integral with the cylindrical blocks 1.
