Abstract

1526201 Diaphragms STRATHEARN AUDIO Ltd 5 Sept 1976 [6 Sept 1974] 39033/74 Heading H4J A loudspeaker diaphragm has a core of a sheet 1 of plastics material (e.g. polyamide) defining open ended cells 2 extending between opposite faces of the core and sheets 7, 8 extending over the faces of the core. The cells 2 are preferably hexagonal. The sheets 7, 8 may be of paper and/or aluminium. They may be secured to the core by the use of adhesive in sheet form or by adhesive material applied only to the faces of the core. The cells 2 may be filled with expanded polystyrene granules. The diaphragm is edge supported by rubber or foam material 10 in a frame 11. A pattern of conductors may be distributed over at least part of the diaphragm and associated with a corresponding pattern of magnetic poles (not shown). The diaphragm may be conical.
